Five Ways to Kick Off the New Year!
A new year is always such a great time to make some changes in your life – develop new habits or leave old ones behind. There’s something magical in the promise of a fresh start each January and with the crazy 2020 we had, this year is no exception!
Read on to see my top five tips on kicking off a strong 2021!
- Create an attitude of gratitude.
It’s been proven that people who practice gratitude on a regular basis experience more positive emotions, sleep better, are more compassionate, and have stronger immune systems. Start by keeping a gratitude journal by your bed and write down 10 things or experiences that you’re grateful for from the day before you go to bed each night.
- Make quality sleep a priority.
We all know that the way we slept the night before can make or break our entire day. It’s not enough to just get your 7-8 hours each night – you need to make sure the sleep you are getting is deep, quality sleep. Set yourself up for a good night’s sleep by powering down your cell phone, computer, and TV at least 30 minutes before bedtime and cutting back on common sleep disruptors in the evening like caffeine and alcohol.
- Purge.
No better time to purge than the new year! Start with your closets – if you haven’t worn it in the last year, time to toss it. Move on to your pantry and then your toiletries and make-up products. Throw away any products that are expired or old as well as leaking. Don’t forget the shower! Toss or consolidate any products that are empty or not consistently used.
- Commit to learning.
- Let this be a fun one! Pick something new to learn this year. Take a new online class, start baking, pick up photography, learn a new language. Choose anything – just make it something brand new that would typically be out of your comfort zone.
- Start a self-care routine.
You know I am all about self-care so if your 2020 routine was lacking, it’s time to step it up in 2021! For a glowy, healthy, even toned complexion, I recommend starting with our Quarantine Skin Care Routine to get the basics down for both morning and evening.
